BEAN BAG CARE & SAFETY INFORMATION

Please read this information before filling, using or caring for your bean bag cover or inner liner. Always retain and follow the product-specific instructions, sewn-in care label and warning labels supplied with your item. If product-specific information differs from this general information, follow the instructions for that product.

WHAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED

Unless expressly stated otherwise on the individual product page, our bean bag products are supplied as covers only. Filling is not included. Bean bag covers are not inflatable and must be filled with suitable bean bag filling or another suitable soft filling before use.

Some products can be used with a separate inner liner. Inner liners are sold separately unless specifically included in the product description.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND USING A BEAN BAG INNER LINER

For outdoor bean bags, and especially for floating bean bags or loungers, we strongly recommend using a correctly sized breathable mesh inner liner.

An inner liner keeps the bean bag filling securely contained inside the outer cover. This makes filling, emptying, moving, cleaning and caring for your bean bag much easier. It also helps protect the outer cover by separating the filling from the outer fabric and reducing direct pressure, rubbing and strain on the fabric, seams and zip.

A breathable mesh liner is particularly important for outdoor and floating products because it allows air and water to pass through. If the outer cover becomes wet, water can drain through the mesh rather than becoming trapped around the filling. This helps the bean bag dry more effectively and reduces the risk of damp filling, mould, odour and unnecessary stress on the outer fabric.

Using an inner liner also means you can remove the outer cover for cleaning or drying while keeping the filling securely contained. Without a liner, removing a cover full of loose bean bag filling can be difficult, messy and unsafe.

An inner liner does not make a standard bean bag suitable for use in water. It is not a flotation device or safety device. Only products specifically described as floating products may be used in a swimming pool.

HOW TO USE AN INNER LINER

Choose a liner that is compatible with your bean bag’s shape and size. A liner that is too small may strain the seams and zip. A liner that is too large may not sit correctly inside the cover.

Place the empty liner inside the outer bean bag cover before filling. Fill the liner with clean, dry bean bag filling only. Do not overfill. Fill to approximately 70 to 80 percent full unless the individual product page states otherwise. Fully close and secure the liner zip before closing the outer cover. Then fully close and secure the outer cover zip.

Do not attach a pull tag, handle, cord, key ring or other object to a child-resistant filling zip. Regularly inspect both the liner and outer cover for damage, seam stress or zip problems. Do not use a damaged liner or outer cover.

FILLING YOUR BEAN BAG

Check the individual product page for the approximate amount of filling required for your bean bag cover.

For the best comfort, shape and longevity, fill the bean bag to approximately 70 to 80 percent full. Do not overfill. Overfilling places unnecessary pressure on the seams, fabric and zip and may cause the cover to split or wear prematurely.

Use clean, dry bean bag filling or another suitable soft filling only. Never use sand, soil, stones, gravel, water, food, hard objects or any material that could damage the cover, create a safety hazard or make the bean bag excessively heavy.

Keep children and pets away while filling or emptying your bean bag. Work in a dry, enclosed area where loose filling can be contained. Open the zip only as far as necessary. Transfer filling slowly and carefully to reduce spills and static. Clean up spilled filling immediately. Never leave bean bag filling on the floor, outdoors or within reach of children or pets.

CHILD-RESISTANT ZIPS

Where fitted, the filling zip is child-resistant and is intended to be operated using a paperclip or similar small tool inserted into the zip slider.

Do not force the zip, modify it, remove safety features or attach a pull tab. Keep any tool used to operate the zip out of reach of children.

OUTDOOR USE AND GENERAL CARE

Our outdoor bean bag covers are designed for outdoor lounging. Even weatherproof fabric requires regular care to help maintain its appearance and extend its life.

Remove loose dirt, leaves, sunscreen, food and other surface marks promptly with a soft damp cloth. Use mild soap only where needed, then wipe clean with fresh water. Test any cleaner on a small hidden area first.

Do not use bleach, solvent-based cleaners, harsh chemicals, abrasive products, stiff brushes or high-pressure cleaning equipment. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron or dry-clean the outer cover unless the sewn-in care label specifically permits it.

Allow the outer cover, inner liner and filling to dry completely before storing or using indoors. Store the bean bag under cover in a clean, dry, well-ventilated place when it is not in use or when wet weather is expected.

Keep the bean bag away from rough surfaces, sharp objects and pets that may scratch or chew the fabric. Do not drag a filled bean bag by its fabric or zip. Lift it with assistance where necessary. Do not stack heavy objects on top of a bean bag or use it as a step, ladder, jumping surface or climbing aid.

Avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain, standing water, chlorine, saltwater and intense sunlight. Weatherproof or water-resistant fabric does not mean the cover is waterproof in every condition. Water can enter through seams, zips and openings, particularly in heavy rain or when placed in water.

DRAINAGE, MOISTURE AND DRYING

If a bean bag becomes wet, do not put it away or leave it filled in a damp area. Damp filling can clump, develop odour or mould, and may damage the outer cover.

If your bean bag has become saturated, do not lift it immediately while it is heavy with water. Move it carefully to a suitable draining area where practical. Position or hang it with the lowest drainage point facing down. Open the outer cover to allow water to escape. If fitted, keep the filling contained in the breathable mesh liner while water drains through it.

Allow the outer cover, liner and filling to drain and dry completely. Do not store, refill or use the bean bag until all components are fully dry. A correctly sized breathable mesh liner makes this process much easier because it keeps the filling contained while allowing water and air to pass through.

POOLSIDE USE AND FLOATING PRODUCTS

Standard outdoor bean bags, including standard loungers and triangle bean bags, are intended for dry poolside lounging only. They must not be placed or used in a swimming pool, spa, ocean, lake, river or any other body of water.

Only products expressly described on their individual product page as a floating bean bag or floating lounger may be used in a swimming pool.

Even a floating model is not a flotation device, personal flotation device, rescue device, lifesaving device or water toy. It must never be used as a substitute for adult supervision, swimming ability or approved water-safety equipment.

Use an eligible floating product only in a supervised swimming pool. Never use it in the ocean, surf, rivers, lakes, dams, spas, moving water or deep or open water. Never allow children, non-swimmers or vulnerable people to use it without close, competent adult supervision.

Never dive, jump, stand, climb, horseplay or attempt to tow the product while in or near water. Do not use it if the fabric, seams, zip or inner liner are damaged, or if water is entering the filling area.

Remove it from the water after use. Rinse away chlorine or saltwater with fresh water, drain thoroughly and allow all components to dry completely before storage.

IMPORTANT BEAN BAG SAFETY WARNING

WARNING: Children can suffocate if bean bag filling is swallowed or inhaled.

Keep all bean bag filling securely contained and out of reach of children and pets. Never allow anyone to climb inside a bean bag cover or inner liner.

Bean bags are not safe sleeping surfaces for babies or infants under 12 months of age. Do not leave babies, children or vulnerable people unattended on or near a bean bag.

Keep bean bags, inner liners and filling away from open flames, heaters, sparks, cigarettes, candles, outdoor fires, barbecues and other heat sources. Do not smoke while using the bean bag.

Inspect the bean bag before every use. Stop using it immediately if the outer fabric, seams, warning label, inner liner or filling zip becomes damaged, loose or difficult to secure.
